Another member of the Three Rivers women's basketball program is making the climb up the college sports ladder as Kourtney Kendrick has signed on with in-state program William Woods University in Fulton to continue her career.
"It's a little closer to home," said Kendrick, a native of nearby Boonville. "I just want to finish my basketball career and get a four year degree close to home."
Kendrick played for Three Rivers for one season and she made her mark off the bench as a freshman during the Raiders' historic 2021-22 run appearing in 29 games. The 5-foot-10 guard started twice in back-to-back games against Mineral Area on Feb. 16 and at Jefferson on Feb. 19. In her start against Mineral Area at the Libla Family Sports Complex, she recorded a career-high 13 points in the Raiders' 75-54 win. For the season Kendrick averaged 4.8 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Prior to college, Kendrick played for Boonville High School where she was named to the Class 4 MBCA All-State Team in her senior year in 2020-21 while leading the Pirates to a MSHSAA State Championship that season and scored over 1,000 points for her high school career.
Kendrick will be joining an NAIA program at William Woods that went 10-19 last season. The Owls play in the American Midwest Conference.
"I talked with the coaches and the girls there and I love what they have," Kendrick said. "I think they're building a good team there and I've played with a bunch of the girls there before in AAU."
Another main draw to William Woods for Kendrick was their academic programs.
"They have a very good business program there so I want to finish my education with them," she said.
