Lady Raiders roll to blowout wins

SEDALIA, Mo. — The Lady Raiders cruised in a pair of weekend blowouts at the Stone Laser Imaging Classic at State Fair. On Friday, they dominated Malcolm X College (Ill.) 113-47, then turned around and beat Central Nebraska 96-60. The Lady Raiders (5-2) have now won each of their five games by double figures and both of its losses were by three points to Wabash Valley (Ill.). "We're six points away from being undefeated," Three Rivers coach Jeff Walk said. "I think the kids are understanding how good they possibly could be." Three Rivers opened in its 1-2-2 press, with Ge'Naisha Robinson at the top, against Central and was able to control the game from start to finish. Robinson led Three Rivers with 24 points, including 10 in the first quarter. "It's going pretty good. We're able to impose our will defensively for the full court," Walk said of the Press. "(Robinson) is creating havoc up there, defensively. Michael Everhart added 18 points after sinking four 3-pointers. Joya Smith got 10 and 11 different Lady Raiders scored. Robinson nearly matched her personal Three Rivers scoring record of 26 points, which she earned in Three Rivers' season-opening, 60-point win against Lindenwood-Belleville JV. "We did what we needed to do, worked the ball and made shots," Walk said. "Our guards this week have done a tremendous job passing the ball up the floor."

Defensively, Three Rivers shut down everyone Saturday not named Teisha Snyder, who led Central with 29 points. "She's pretty good. She could shoot the 3 and get to the rim about any time she wanted to," Walk said. "One kid, most of the time, can not beat you." Williams and Robinson each had 24 points and 13 Lady Raiders scored in Three Rivers' 66-point win over Malcolm X on Friday. It was Three Rivers' largest margin of victory since beating Missouri Baptist JV 118-40 last year. Destiney Williams hit four 3-pointers, one in each quarter, while Robinson put up 16 points in the first half. It was a new best for Williams as a Lady Raider. She topped 20 points three times as a freshman and got 22 against Lindenwood-Belleville JV in one of her three starts last season. After a slow start where she scored seven total points in four games, Williams had 11 points against Shawnee and now, a week later, has a new personal best. After earning another 24 points Saturday against Central Nebraska, Robinson has scored in double figures in every game this season. She currently leads the Lady Raiders with about 16 points a game and going into this weekend was averaging 4.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 1.4 assists. Freshman Markeia Porter added 10 points for her second game in double figures as a Lady Raider. She also had 10 points in the season opener. Fellow freshman Olivia Crane had her third game with 10 points. Both are averaging about 5 points off the bench. Malcolm X had four players score and were led by Cierra Lane's 20 points and Breneka Walker's 16.
