Raiders take eighth at own rodeo in Sikeston

SIKESTON — The Three Rivers Raiders men’s rodeo team finished with 70 points and in eighth place during the three-day Three Rivers College Championship College Rodeo, presented by Farm Credit of Southeast Missouri, held at the Art Saunders Arena at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds.

The event, which wrapped up Saturday, was won by Missouri Valley College on the men’s side, who scored 720 points to run away with the competition, with Pearl River Community College taking second at 490. On the women’s side, the University of West Alabama cruised to its title with 505 points as the University of Tennessee-Martin was runner-up with 205. Three Rivers scored all of its points behind the bareback riding performance of Colten Mitteis, who finished fifth.

The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association event featured 15 schools in the Ozark Region and included entrants from Central Methodist University, East Mississippi Community College, Mississippi State University, Missouri Valley College, Murray State University, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Pearl River Community College, Southern Arkansas University, University of Arkansas-Monticello, University of West Alabama, and the University of Tennessee at Martin, as well as the host Raiders.
