Raiders split pair with Mineral Area

Three days after splitting a doubleheader with the Mineral Area College Cardinals on the road, the Three Rivers College baseball team did the same Sunday at Roger Pattillo Field.

The Raiders dropped the opener to MAC 13-1 before rallying to take the nightcap 14-5.

Three Rivers (24-19) trailed 5-2 going to the bottom of the sixth inning when its bats came alive.

Charlie Parker singled home Eli Marvin and Dalton Rudd in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it a one-run game, then the Raiders scored six times in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead for good.

Rudd singled home Peyton Nelson to tie the score at 5-5, then Brady Robertson scored on a wild pitch to give TRC a 6-5 lead. Tanner Duncan then doubled home Rudd and Logan McIntyre for an 8-5 lead.

Duncan scored later in the evening to make it 9-5, then Gavin Jansen singled home Trent Buchanan to cap the rally.

Rudd ultimately end of the game at the bottom of the eighth inning with a grand slam, making it 14-5 and enforcing the mercy rule.

Rudd ended the game with five RBIs, while Duncan drove in a pair. Rudd also had three hits, while Nelson and Robertson had two apiece.

In Sunday's first game, Mineral Area scored six runs in the top of the second inning to break open a close game and never look back.

Three Rivers scored its only run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Nelson reached on an error, then later scored on Marvin's sacrifice fly.

The Cardinals held TRC to just six hits, two of those coming from Robertson.

The Raiders are back in action Tuesday when Southwest Tennessee comes to town for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
