Raiders take series at Metropolitan

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Three Rivers College baseball team outscored the Metropolitan Wolves 45-22 to take three games of a four-game set over the weekend.

The Raiders (15-14) took both games at Metropolitan on Saturday, winning the opener 11-1 and taking the nightcap 15-7. The two schools then split a twin bill on Sunday, with the Wolves winning the opener 10-6 and TRC taking the nightcap 13-4.

In Saturday's opener, Lukas Touma tossed a one-hitter while the offense scored two or more runs in every inning except the first.

Peyton Nelson drove in three runs, while he, Tanner Duncan and Trent Buchanan each had two hits. Duncan and Nolan Self also drove in two runs apiece.

Meanwhile, Touma was strong on the hill, allowing one hit, one run, and a pair of walks while striking out five in five innings of work.

In the second game Saturday, TRC scored nine runs in the top of the third inning to take control of the contest and never look back.

Dalton Rudd had the big game, hitting a pair of homers and driving in seven runs while also collecting three hits. Brady Robertson added a double and drove in three runs, while Buchanan drove in a pair.

In Sunday's opener, Three Rivers led 6-3 after 4 1/2 innings and 6-5 going to the bottom of the seventh, but could not prevent a late comeback by the hosts.

Nelson had three hits for the Raiders, while Buchanan and Rudd each had two and Duncan drove in a pair of runs.

TRC bounced back in Sunday's nightcap, pounding out 20 hits and 13 runs to take the four-game series.

Nelson and Logan McIntyre each drove in three runs and had three hits, while Duncan, Robertson, Eli Marvin and Jordan Kelly each had a pair of hits. McIntyre also homered.

Zach Haygood earned the win in relief, tossing 6 2/3 innings of scoreless ball as he allowed three hits and no walks while striking out five.

The Raiders are back in action Thursday with a doubleheader at St. Charles. First pitch is set for noon.
