The Lady Raiders, got the win they needed to secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Region XVI Tournament by taking a 67-45 victory over MAC in Saturday's early game. By defeating the Cardinals, Three Rivers (23-5, 8-3 XVI) has earned the right to host a region semifinal contest on March 10 against third-seeded Crowder.
the Lady Raiders led MAC just 46-40 going to the fourth quarter, but dominated the game's final 10 minutes as the outscored the visitors 21-5 to pull away and secure the region's No. 2 seed.
"I think we scored eight points in the third quarter, which is not very good, but I think we responded well by allowing five points in the fourth," Three Rivers women's coach Alex Wiggs said. … "I'm really proud of the girls."
Still without leading scorer Amelia Corasaniti due to an injury, Three Rivers got another big game from Da'Naya Ross, who had 20 points, seven rebounds and a pair of steals to lead her team to victory.
"I think Ross has really stepped up and played well," Wiggs said.
Also stepping up was freshman Samyah Jordan, who added 17 points, while the duo of Tristan Spearman and Courtney Bluitt had eight apiece and Kiera Neal finished with six. Neal and Caitlin Lord each also had seven rebounds.
The Lady Raiders head to Crowder next Saturday to wrap up the regular season. It will be the first of back-to-back games against the Lady Roughriders, as they also will meet on March 10 in the Region XVI semifinals at the Libla Family Sports Complex.
