At Vincennes, Indiana, the Lady Raiders turned in their best road performance of the season to date, getting a big early lead on the Lady Trailblazers and never looking back on the way to a 68-39 win.
Even more impressive is that Three Rivers only beat the Lady Trailblazers 63-58 when the two teams met at the Libla Family Sports Complex on Nov. 22.
"We started off the game well," Three Rivers coach Alex Wiggs said of Wednesday's win. "We've been really guarding people but we needed to get more ball movement and player movement to get our offense going and we did that tonight. I am super proud of our girls."
Wednesday's win is even sweeter as it came on the heels of Three Rivers' first loss of the season, a 64-49 setback at Trinity Valley in Athens, Texas last Saturday.
"It feels good (to win but) I don't know if I would call it a 'bounce-back win' as we put the same emphasis on every single game," Wiggs said. "We're No. 6 in the country and lost to a top-20 program (Trinity Valley) on their home court. We just had to learn from it and get back to being us and doing what we do."
The Lady Raiders (11-1) started fast, racing out to a 22-8 lead after the opening period and holding a 44-15 lead at the intermission. Three Rivers took a 60-26 lead into the fourth quarter.
Samyah Jordan led a balanced Lady Raider attack with 13 points, while Courtney Bluitt added 11 off the bench, Amelia Corasaniti and Da'Naya Ross each had nine, Caitlin Lord added seven and Londyn Harper finished with six. Corasaniti also had six assists, while Jordan added seven rebounds and two steals.
Three Rivers held the Lady Trailblazers to just 38% shooting from the field (15-for-39) and to just 1-for-10 behind the 3-point line. The Lady Raiders also had a 34-22 advantage on the boards.
The Three Rivers women are back on the court at 1 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Carterville, Illinois, to take on John A. Logan.
