Lady Raiders sweep Williams Baptist

The Three Rivers softball team went on the road and earned two victories over Williams Baptist, winning 15-4 in the first game while tallying a 3-1 victory in the second game on Thursday afternoon.

In the first matchup between the two programs, five Lady Raiders accumulated at least two hits, while the team combined for six extra-base hits, including a home run from freshman Hannah Mross.

"The offense showed up and showed out in that first game," Lady Raiders coach Jeffrey Null said.

Williams Baptist tallied two runs in the first inning off Three Rivers pitcher Addison Cooper, but the Lady Raiders promptly responded with three runs apiece in the second and third innings of the first contest to seize a commanding 6-2 lead.

Things really got out of hand as the Lady Raiders put up five runs in the top of the fourth inning to increase their lead to nine, and while the home team managed to scrap together two more runs together, they didn't come close to rallying back in the game to retake the lead.

Jayce Jarvis, Mross, Jayden Tucker, Addison Fulbright, and Trinity Everette each accrued two hits apiece, combining for 10 RBIs in the process.

The second game of the doubleheader varied greatly from the first game, which served as an offensive juggernaut for the Lady Raiders.

"Game Two was a pitcher's duel. They threw a good pitcher in game two, and we were down 1-0 for a lot of the game, " Null said.

Indeed, the Lady Raiders trailed 1-0 for the first five innings, until a two-run sixth inning and an insurance run in the seventh inning secured another series sweep for the Three Rivers group.

Three Rivers executed a bunt to move a runner and got a ground ball to drive in the tying run. The Lady Raiders got several clutch hits to grab a 3-1 lead that they never relinquished.

Fulbright and Kylie Walker drove home the runs needed for Three Rivers to secure the victory.

The pitching held it down in game two for the Lady Raiders, as Adele Uhlmeyer and Bella Harville did a great job in high-pressure situations. The duo combined for 10 strikeouts and surrendered just two total hits on the afternoon during the contest.
