Baseball (1992-94)

Alan Mahaffey threw two no-hitters at Three Rivers and set a school record with a 1.28 ERA across 85 2/3 innings over two seasons.

He was named an All-American before moving on to the University of Arkansas, where he had 91 strikeouts over 100 innings with 42 walks in 19 appearances. He finished with a 9-5 record and a 4.50 ERA at Arkansas, and was drafted in the 16th round by the Minnesota Twins in 1995.

Mahaffey pitched six seasons in the minor leagues and played for Triple-A Salt Lake in the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

He coached the Springfield-based Midwest Nationals, where he coached two first-round draft picks and future CY Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel.
