William D. Swafford and his wife Carol, local business owners, were avid Raider fans and stalwart supporters of Three Rivers College and the Athletic Department.

Swafford served on the Three Rivers College Board of Trustees for 18 years from 1988-2006. He joined the Three Rivers Booster Club in 1978.

Swafford and his wife were passionate about helping students and the Athletics Program without seeking credit. Swafford sold the radio ads for the Booster Club, which helped all Three Rivers teams.

"I was impressed with his business acumen," said former Three Rivers men's basketball coach Gene Bess. "His honesty is very apparent. He makes himself available and helpful as a 3R Booster Club member, as a TRC Board of Trustees Member, and as a supporter of our program.

"He has the respect of the community. Bill is my friend. The players love him. Bill is a behind-the-scenes supporter who helped our program achieve success. He's a servant-leader, a person who gives without expecting anything in return. He's great at raising money. He spent tireless amounts of time fundraising for the Libla Family Sports Complex. Without his efforts, we wouldn't have this beautiful arena. Bill and Carol have given so much to our athletic program and College. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do."
