Raiders baseball wins 12-2 after 12-2 loss and weekend split

HENDERSON, Tenn. — After giving up a six-run fifth to turn a tight one-run game into a 12-2 loss, the Three Rivers baseball team put up a pair of five-run innings in the second game to split with Freed Hardeman University on Monday.

Lane Crowden's tie-breaking, two-run double in the fifth was followed by another two-run double by Kolten Poorman while Alex Cauley and Nathan Browning also drove in a pair of runs in a 12-2 Raiders win in a seven-inning nightcap.

Three Rivers committed six errors in a 12-2 loss in the opener that ended after six innings.

Cade Cancilla hit a solo home run and drove in both runs in the loss after a 4 for 7 performance with four RBIs and homer in a Region XVI doubleheader Saturday.

The Raiders split a pair of region games with St. Louis, winning 10-9 in seven innings and losing 7-5 in the nightcap.

Three Rivers (16-13, 4-8 XVI) travels to Kansas City to play Metropolitan in doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday.

In the opener against St. Louis, Stefan Turino, Andrew Lara and Cancilla each went deep. Lara, who also doubled, drove in four runs while Cancilla had a pair of RBIs along with Poorman, who doubled among his two hits. Hunter Gray drove in a run while Turino was 2 for 2, scoring three times and stole two bases along with Gray.

Michael White picked up his second win in relief, allowing two runs in three innings. Cody Bond struck out four in three innings but St. Louis tied the game in the fourth before a three-run frame by the Raiders.

Lachlan Waite earned a save after St. Louis scored three in the seventh. The Raiders improved to 5-2 in one-run games.

In the nightcap, Three Rivers committed five errors but only gave up one unearned run as St. Louis scored in five straight innings. The Raiders scored in the first but fell behind after a two-run fourth.

Jake Uber took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over four innings to start. He struck out three.

Cancilla was 3 for 4 with a walk and two RBIs as Poorman scored twice, reaching base four times with three walks. Kyle Clayton and Bryan Montanez each had an RBI.

In Monday's win, the first four hitters in the Raiders lineup — Turino, Crowden, Poorman and Cancilla — each scored twice. Crowden was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, Poorman also drove in two with his double while Cancilla walked and was hit by a pitch.

Cauley was 2 for 3 with a sacrifice fly, a double and a single while Tucker Hughes drove in a run and was 2 for 3 with a hit-by-pitch.

Mason Morgan earned the win in relief, allowing no earned runs, four walks and one hit with three strikeouts over three innings. Carson Webb struck out three, walked none and allowed two runs over three innings to start.

In the opener, Sean Pruneau took the loss after giving up a three-run third.

Three Rivers trailed 3-2 before the Lions scored six times in the fifth on two hit batters, three errors, an RBI single, a two-run double and a two-out RBI double.
